Consistency

Heyo, was just wondering if anyone had any tips on being more consistent. I generally do pretty ok on pistol rounds, then just noticeably get worse as matches go on. I've only played this game for a couple months, and I'd like to get better.

CS is the most inconsistent game for me. I will go 10-0 on start of one map and 0-10 on the following. I will walk around and insta HS everyone I see and they don't even really react, everything is perfect and they're turned the wrong way at the right time. And other times, I barely see someone and get insta hs'd over and over, or through smoke, or through walls, or walk into flash after flash.

What I do if I'm doing poorly is switch weapons. I often scout/deagle, but if my aim is just shit that day and nothing is working out, I go with an M4/AK. If that doesn't work, I get a p90, mac10, ump, whatever. I just dick around at that point until I start getting kills again.

Also switching your style of play can help. If you usually camp back and keep getting killed, buy a p90 and rush mid on dust2 on either team all crazy.

Honestly, having seen Glockamole run through his hit patterns, I would say training muscle memory that way. Not sure where he got it but can't be too difficult, it is a spray that you tag a wall with, move away and test moving and hitting the pattern. He was damn quick and damn accurate, pretty much what is done in real life to train instant reaction through repetitive training programs. After that visualizing the lines of cover as you move, seeing the entry areas and covering the spot where the person is likely to step out at. Having your x-hair on target quickly makes it easier for you. Then there are the spastic snap-shot artist and with them, just avoid like the plague.

I am sure you can search google for the test pattern spray or pm Glockamole.

What @Fasttrak said. All about practice and muscle memory. During my Source tournaments and scrims we practiced on muscle memory maps people created and aim training with site tactics and headlines. Also having a slower mouse sensitivity is crucial as it removes unnecessary movements and helps you adjust your aim quicker. Also the more players you have your reg tends to fall off a bit for some reason :(

Learning spray patterns is the last thing you should worry about imo, because you should be rarely "spraying."

Warming up on a deathmatch server helps improve your aim.

Patience every round is a necessity for consistency especially on a public server.

It's the ADD in me that wants to rush every round and not exactly fulfill the objectives.

I play my best when I'm patient, but focus'd on the objectives at hand... meaning... what can I do to win this round, where is the enemy, where might they go with the bomb, which unpredictable spot should I hide to defend this site.

for greatest consistency drink coffee. then more coffee, and when all starts to fail. BREW ANOTHER POT babbbayy!!!
...actually im one of most inconsistent people on the game i think. (on MM anyways) :p

the best info i can give in my 6 years of stable playing, basically move your mouse cursor outside of the center of your screen and back to the middle as fast, and accurate as possible, as many times as you can (only in the beginning of rounds.)

this builds on the muscle memory people talk about

there are WAY to many angles and reactions, but you can get very close to perfect just by doing this. (of course i don't practice this, i'll use the pathetic excuse of i play too many games on pc and different mouse sensitivities... but really im too lazy which will make you and the majority way better.)

honestly there are alot of things that come into play with CS:S, CS:GO. Like how do you use your mouse? are you a wrist player or a arm player? Do you play left or right handed? etc etc. if you want more tips i can give them to you. ex CEVO-p player here XD XD.
