Learning spray patterns is the last thing you should worry about imo, because you should be rarely "spraying."
you read that wrong. read it again. you're not learning spray patterns, but rather, hit patterns, and training your muscle for memory. the spray is the target on the wall. you hit the pattern in a certain fashion to train your aim.

You could go to the stats page The 47 Ronin - Players and check out the map performance section to see where you die and get kills you will get a clear picture of your strong and weak areas and what you need to work on as far as playing to round out your game, also your weapons stats as well you'll see your accuracy with each weapon ect. and could use that information to keep in mind for certain situations you might find yourself in.

Now that only gives you a by numbers look on your play style although it definitely shows your weak points and what you should work on. The hardest part is getting out of your "comfortable" zone. Like players who are can awp but cant rifle. From a competitive standpoint that may work given that you as a team is able to keep that afloat by winning rounds(money)

Confucious brought up a great point. your sensitivity plays a part too, you may play with one you feel is right but it may not be what you need

Your cross hairs too from size to color plays a small role but can mean a difference from frag or a death.

For me this works wonders as you have the cross hairs with the dynamic settings that open and close as you move and shoot as well as an outer cross hair that is small and transparent that show where my shots may hit during a spray or on the move.

My settings are
cl_crosshairalpha "99999"
cl_crosshaircolor "4.000000"
cl_crosshaircolor_b "0"
cl_crosshaircolor_g "0"
cl_crosshaircolor_r "0"
cl_crosshairdot "0"
cl_crosshairgap "-0.7"
cl_crosshairscale "1550"
cl_crosshairsize "2.3"
cl_crosshairstyle "4"
cl_crosshairthickness "0.9"
cl_crosshairusealpha "1"

There are also good aim maps to warm up on

Steam Workshop :: training_aim_csgo_fixed

Has plenty of different settings you can choose from and definitely worth a try.

I've always been a lazy player, preferring to learn just by playing hours upon hours. So that would be my advice. That, and when in close combat, pull down when you spray. I'm too lazy to really tweak my crosshair, angles, etc. Just play.

The exception to that is that I've spent a little bit of time adjusting my sensitivity. I've always played games with high sensitivity (I hate having to move the mouse far) but I've had to balance that with having a more stable shot. (Think my current settings is either 1.91 or 2.07 in game with 1100 dpi on my mouse.)

Hm my in-game sens is about 1.3. But my DPI on my actual mouse is 250. How I play with such low settings? I'm an arm player.

When I played starcraft a lot, I was a wrist-on-edge-of-desk player (most of the pros are), but since going to cs I've changed it up a little. I still primarily use my wrist, but more of my arm sits up on the desk, for added stability. My desk isn't even big enough for me to put my whole arm on it.

Ha! same I have to move with my wrist moving arm just too much work you know? :p

Haha it's all about muscle memory at this point. If you were a wrist player then you're always gunna be a wrist player
