What Does Everyone Do For A Living?

I was reading Gaspar's thread about his career change and it got me thinking. What does everyone do for a living? I know a majority of you work in the IT field as engineers or something of that nature. I am finishing up my Bachelors in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing. I graduate in May :)

I hope to become a marketing coordinator somewhere in the sports industry. Either for an athletic department at a college or a professional sports team. Haven't decided if I want to get my MBA yet.

Tell me what you guys do and what your dream job would be?!

Active Duty Navy, in construction battalion aka CB aka Seabee. My actual job title is Steelworker, however I seldom do my job.

As far as dream job, I'm unsure. I plan on going to school when I get out to become an X-ray tech.

IANAL, but I am a SWE! :p I was an embedded Software Engineer, doing R&D for smartcards used in the PayTV industry. I'm still a Software Engineer, but now I'm configuring smartcards used in the financial industry (old job was designing the chips, new job is using the chips). I miss R&D; I think that would be my attainable dream job - engineering new technology that will impact society (NFC/mobile payments, etc).

Throughout college, and for a bit after, I was doing IT support. I realized I had this engineering degree, and that it pays much more than IT support certs, so I put it to use.

First, figure out what you would do with your MBA.

X-Ray Techs... Ultrasound Techs... etc... they make great money without a 4yr degree. When I found out how much they make after only 2yrs of school, I was wishing I went that route instead. Then I step inside a hospital and realize I would have never made it, lol.

I was an embedded Software Engineer....
Now I get why you love XP still, it's probably "Windows XP Embedded." Get it? Maybe not. :p

My title is Systems Administrator, which I follow up with "the IT guy."
I've been at the same job for about 11 years and it's hard to imagine being here another decade. I'll probably burn out and do something completely unrelated, run some kid activity center or something more fun and motivating.

umm, I worked washing windows in the summer!?? (And the school year.)

I'm majoring in Chemical Physics, my plan is grad school and then do research somewhere. Pretty open ended. I'd love to work with new/novel materials though, perhaps super conductors or stuff with computing.

This is all the plan unless my love of physics overtakes my love of chem (we'll see once I get to Quantum Mechanics!)

All you silly old people and already having your jobs.

See my reply to @Hunter for your future retirement job above.
