Ways to Make Extra Money

I don't know about you guys, but I see all these websites geared toward making extra money, but they're all trying to sell something (ironically, they too are just trying to earn extra money). I was just wondering what you all do to make extra money on the side.

Personally I've been hitting up our campus surplus store and buying desirable ink/toner for $25 a pop and reselling it on eBay for upwards of $100. This is really the only thing I've found that works and it depends on what they have in stock...which is not much now as I've raided it pretty hard.

What do you do to earn extra cash?

What? Your campus sell inks for $25?! WTF my campus charge us good $100+ where I can just go to Amazon and buy a whole set for about $100...

I never would've thought of ink/toner, but that's a quick flip, as long as you don't get stuck w/ unwanted inventory.

I took the kids to Legoland a few years ago and bought some Lego sets at full price. People said "buy them cheap on eBay." Well, they're smoking crack cuz Lego is plastic gold. As soon as sets retire (usually about 2 years), they jump in value, so I've been buying Lego on sale/clearance and sell them later on eBay when they're out of stores and go up in value. I've bought so much though that I'm much more "invested" than making profit at this point, but most of it's still on the shelves at stores, so I have to wait it out.

Check this out, for example. This was $149.99 in 2008 and look at it now:

I don't have that one, wish I did. I don't any expect current sets to hit that high, but I'd be happy with half that.

I walk by the electronic clearance at Target/Walmart too. On a rare occasion, you'll find a cool camera/phone/etc like 50-70% off and can double your dough on eBay.
A lot of people do craigslist, but I really hate that creepy drug dealing feel meeting a stranger in a random parking lot. It does save a ton on fees & shipping though!

I've always been curious about which of those BS work at home jobs are real. You always see them and they appear so perfect with testimonials and a professional looking website. Then you google a review of their business and everyone and their mother is warning you its a scam. Like, I actually wouldn't mind stuffing envelops or something stupid for extra cash in my off time, or whatever tedious little job people need done. There are also all the survey companies online and I know some of them are legit, but the payout is very small and they don't always have surveys to complete.

A friend of mine who lives a rather alternative lifestyle once had a job where he would shop for shit he'd normally buy, but at locations on a list of various stores and they would reimburse him a certain amount if he reviewed the store or whatever they were looking for. Example, one day I was with him and the store was trader joes. So we went to a few different trader joes and got alcohol and sandwiches throughout the day and they reimbursed him for it all. This would come in handy even if you weren't a hobo looking for sandwiches and beer for one day. You could potentially save a lot of money on groceries if you did it right.

What I should do is find out what has the biggest discount at the exchange on base, probably diapers or something like that, and sell that shit on ebay. hahaha I could probably get into a lot of trouble doing that. And the sad part is, the majority of items at the exchange are cheaper at walmart, even with the tax free discount. I was so stoked when I enlisted, like I'd be getting access to some premier store where everything was 50% off and come to find out they overcharge for a lot of shit, like TVs and most electronics.

The trick is to inconspicuously determine which ones sell and for how much using your eBay app :) Using that approach, I've sold every single toner I've bought. To date (about a year) I've made about $700 profit.

whore yourself to women

I didn't want to throw anybody under the bus, but one 47r member does this for some extra cash on weekend nights, which is why you rarely see him gaming then. I believe he tried for women and it appeared no one was interested, but he's a huge hit with men. @built[4]sin

my brother in law is a super thrifty guy, he does all kinds of crazy stuff for extra money. but his favorite is scrapping. he advertises locally in his town for junk pick up and scrap metal pick up and he sells that shit and makes between 4k and 6k extra every year. His brother in law works for the recycle place and tells him when he can get the best price. most of his scrap money comes from wires. still you need hundreds of pounds of it but it is worth a lot. crimbus lights are worth a lot, especially if you cut all the lights off and separate them, then you get money for the lights on top of it. i feel like its this weird sub culture of people who do it and its pretty lucrative

Not as exciting as American Pickers, but still nice to make money off of "junk."

Usually they are expired, but they still sell for a decent price on eBay.
