Many people have HTML disabled for MOTD, including me.

Why disable MOTD?

I thought the noobs, the camping, the flashing, and the 'nading made the game fun in a pub. It doesn't matter; I play for fun anyway. Wait! I don't even play anymore.

Why disable MOTD?

MOTD isn't disabled, HTML within an MOTD is disabled. Many people have HTML disabled because some servers put way too much HTML crap on there. An MOTD doesn't need to be fancy. It needs to convey the rules of the server. No need for HTML in an MOTD.
