Map suggestions for the go server

Steam Workshop :: Custom maps
I'd like to see all of these maps hit the server. Some I've played and love...some I've never seen, but would like to.

Not sure how they would play, but I would be down to go down the list and test them out with a few people (or more than a few if possible) and report back on the results.

We have a few of the maps you listed, though unfortunately most of them aren't particularly fun.

Of my latest suggestion list only two were implemented. One turned out to be a remake of cpl_mill (which we don't need since we have mill) and the other was disliked by myself and just about everyone else who played it.
I understand the hesitation in regards to adding a plethora of maps that will be forgotten about and create unnecessary confusion in the admin's map list, but I've also volunteered my time to test all new maps, and document what needs to be kept/removed, so at this point there's not much else I can say on the subject.
I'm really tired of rolling through the same 5-6 maps and 2-3 customs that have turned out to be tolerable, but there doesn't appear to be any interest from administrating, so I guess we're just kicking our tires in the mud at this point.

My preference would be to add around 5 maps per month so that we're not overloading ability to give things a proper screening. It's difficult to conclude whether a map is good or bad on the first run through, so we really do need an extended trial period, and for that reason we should be adding only the top rated/tested and most interesting.
When I'm suggesting maps I'll always do a run through of the comments to make sure there are no FPS issues and the like, because the last thing anyone wants is to play an intriguing map that ends up in the trash can, like we've seen happen in the past. (Chinatown, ruins, keystone come to mind)

I think the solution isn't adding maps indiscriminately, but having a voting panel of the few regular CSGO admins who communicate with one another and determine a proper list of 5 or so maps to be added every month. After which point the maps should be tested regularly, and at the end of the month I can report back which are keepers, and which should be removed. This seems to be the most logical scenario to bring in and rigorously test new maps, while also making certain that the map pool doesn't become flooded with underplayed, poorly scripted, or otherwise not-enjoyable maps. The only commitment from administrating becomes a once a month add of 5 or so maps, and removal of say 2-3 on average. I guess I could be wrong, but in my opinion this shouldn't be too much to ask for.

I agree with murk here. We need to be more active in keeping the map rotation fresh in our server before our regulars start to groan about playing the same old maps over and over again.

I realize that @IcEWoLF has been busy lately, owing to working nights, but I don't think that limits our ability to implement an idea like this. Basically if we could get set up with an FTP account allowing us access at the very least to the maps folder and rotation file, the "map committee" could easily administrate the addition and removal of maps on a monthly basis.

I also think it's worth noting that we're all familiar enough with the performance of solid maps in GO to be astute enough to remove those maps that run poorly ASAP (FPS drops, memory leaks, etc)

Basically, by selecting maps with a committee and deciding their fates together, we can build a robust map rotation without creating much additional work for @IcEWoLF.

If the idea does indeed get implemented we should just create a "CSGO map committee" thread in the private section, while leaving this one open for general discussion and weigh-ins from regulars.

Another option would be to implement the idea through Josh. He seemed generally receptive when it comes to adding a few more maps, but was uncertain of how to go about the process, and understandably doesn't want to mess around with a bunch of files we want to keep intact.
If Ice decides he doesn't want the admins having folder access, perhaps going through Josh would be more feasible? Ice will just need to explain to him the ins and outs, and voila: problem of map stagnation gone.

On rotation d2 is after every map usually we should add nuke to one of those d2 map rotations after inferno or something.
Playing d2 after every map gets old.

The problem is that nuke is such a stagnant map in pubs, and history has proven it's not one of those 4-5 maps you can rely on to hold traffic late at night. I like de_nuke, but adding a map to the rotation here or there isn't the answer: getting an influx of new blood to co-mingle among the rotation maps is. I will agree that cbble was implemented incorrectly though. The rotation should have been d2, mirage, cbble, d2, inferno, office; not d2, mirage, d2, cbble, d2, inferno, office.. or whatever the present setup is. This should be fixed.

As of now some of the only maps I like that aren't on the rotation are cache, kyrenia, agency, meteora and seaside. This is forcing me to play maps like dust1 more often, which isn't something I want to do.

It would be nice to have some of the more active participants able to make changes, but if Ice could get Josh up to speed it would still be excellent.

If I knew some of the maps actually had a decent chance of making onto the server I would spend more time reviewing potential maps.

Obviously the problem is getting this idea off the ground. Let's make it happen this time - _ -

Ok I've played de_piranesi on other CS GO servers so I'm guessing it exists now. I really like that map it is really awesome.

Unfortunately, most of the custom maps are really intensive on my macbook pro so I get like 20 fps and hardly play, BUT some maps like gwailor, kyrenia, season, mill, downtown and motel have worked to keep our server up and doing well. I do not know if those maps are discontinued or whatever, but they usually keep the traffic up. Other map that I see other servers use is aztec, alexandria and sultan. They usually keep their traffic up.

People are getting bored of dust 2 now. A great way to kill the server, but it is getting boring. Sometimes people ask me to change it to Italy or other maps that we have.

Again I do not know if some of the maps are taken off or do not exist anymore, but that is just my 2 cents.
