Map suggestions for the go server

Im fine with a vote for nuke. ill vote no but a vote is a vote and a winner is a winner. on the other subjects I agree entirely with murk.

I'm on the server pretty regularly and I like nuke, so it will get its shot in the map pool most nights. That said, it's not a balanced map. In fact, far from it.
The new secret location is way better for T than it was before, but the overall balance still hasn't changed all that much, and this is reflected by the mad scramble to stack CT every time the map loads.

A general rule of thumb is that when a map is at all CT sided for scrims, that problem will only become exacerbated when the player count increases five fold. Nuke isn't vaguely CT sided in scrims, it's EXTREMELY CT sided.
I like the map, and I'll play nuke regularly. But the notion of swapping one of the most balanced maps of all time (cpl_strike, aka mirage) with one of the most one sided maps of all time, isn't at all conducive to maintaining a balanced environment. The three cpl_ maps (strike, fire and mill) are arguably three of the most balanced cs maps ever made. They, along with d2, train, inferno, cbble and nuke made up the old 8 map cal pool. Take a guess which maps were complained about the most often: It was consistently the last two on the list.
The solution is having admins throw up map votes with more regularity than is presently being done outside of myself, not removing or changing the current rotation.

Amen.

Yea, I just don't like mirage (couldn't tell you why) but I agree that Nuke is a bad idea for rotation. I wish Valve would hurry with their map updating, I really want to see some of the maps that older CS players rave about.

I'd be content with what we have now, but we're still missing the best map of all time. I don't get why valve picked up strike and changed its name to mirage, and how there are multiple versions of mill, but somehow fire hasn't been remade yet.
It would be nice to have a version of piranesi on the server, and if you look at the main page for csgo they're remaking cbble, which is great so long as the map is more balanced than it used to be. Everything else I want is purely for nostalgia. Prodigy, survivor, storm, chateau, torn, poolday, iceworld, oilrig, etc are fun maps that I remember playing 10+ years ago. Most haven't been remade yet, but I'm consistently scanning the workshop and holding out hope that some might resurface eventually.

I also am not a big fan of nuke and Mill is probably the one map I am worst at (dont ask me why) but I have never played fire before. I kind of hate piranesi though. Im excited about the new cbble and can wait to try underpass. Honestly if we are just saying our favs mine is probably D2 then season.

I absolutely hate Nuke and Train, but I respect their heritage. Mirage is pretty good although kind of annoying on a full server.

Waiting patiently for the cbble remake to come out, also hoping that de_deason either gets standardized or made an official map. I have to say I agree with murk that some good quality of remakes of those nostalgia maps would be way too much fun. Makes me want to pick up mapping but I know it takes forever to get good at.

I'll try and do more map votes when I'm on. I admit that I don't usually

/vote Piranesi - love that map

gamebanana has a nice list of top maps, maybe we could run through some of them and test which ones are liked most?

custom map servers attract a lot of attention if the custom maps are fun and balanced for 10v10

Okay, so seeing as we have another request for piranesi, I'm going to re-post that suggestion to go along with a few other maps I've discovered during my research and want to see added.
(Was also looking through the workshop recently and found some interesting titles that are all extremely acclaimed)

~toscan Steam Workshop :: Toscan - Huge positive ratings alone warrant interest and a trial run.
~backgold Steam Workshop :: BlackGold - This map almost looks like as_oilrig. If it's fun I'd probably play it often.
~reef Steam Workshop :: de_reef - Unique design, interesting textures/tileset. Also huge positive ratings.
~piranesi (The 5 star version) Steam Workshop :: de_piranesi - Classic that we've needed for ages.
~backalley Steam Workshop :: cs_backalley_go - Cs_ map that isn't terrible, which makes it kind of unique.
~himeji_castle Steam Workshop :: de_himeji_castle - If you don't want to try this map after looking at the pics there's something wrong with you.
~rats_1337 Steam Workshop :: De_rats_1337 - Nostalgia. This was always a fun map and it would be cool as a late night change of pace.
~heat Steam Workshop :: Heat (bomb/defuse) - Dust tileset, highly acclaimed. I think it looks fun.

And:

*de_survivor_csgo* Steam Workshop :: de_survivor_csgo - I've been waiting for a remake of this map to pop up for ages, and it looks like a competent version has finally been released.

We need to be adding maps more regularly. Worst case scenario they're either imbalanced, or poorly rendered and cause FPS drops, in which case I won't play them anymore.
So as not to cause unwanted clutter I'd be more than willing to submit a termination list say once every month, or once by-monthly. The positives of having more good maps to play drastically outweigh any other negatives I can think of, and the server clearly runs best when people get a change of scenery once in a while.
