Headphones or headset only? I can't recommend a headset.
I have Audio Technica AD700X's, they're mad decent. Before that Sennhieser HD 558, which were extremely comfortable. Both are in the 120-150 range on amazon, and both are very good headphones. They're like entry level to audiophile grade. You can't really get a good pair of headphones for under probably 80, may as well fork out a little more and get something quality.

Well for work I have Beyerdynamic DT770's, but was just looking for a gaming headset. Might check out the Astro stuff. Thanks for the replies.
You really need to check out the Astro A40, they have some video on their site plus one of the most used in pro tourneys. I have had mine a little over two years and not easy on my gaming equipment, it still looks like new.

My concern with large headsets has always been the comfort factor. I'm not a particularly large person, and using a large, quality headset is a noticeable annoyance (a friend of mine has A40s, so I've worn them).
I enjoyed large headset over the years, but I will have to agree with @A Stable Carbocation , these days my neck is hurting because of their weight. I use a wireless headset, been using them for 3-4 years now.

No, it's more like saying choice beef is as good as prime beef, if you don't have the taste buds for beef.
Some people just can't hear the difference between a good headset and a decent one - and the words "good" and "decent" are subjective, lol. Then there are some people who CAN hear the difference, but they just don't care for it or think the price is worth the benefit.
