There are several private servers out there tying to relive TBC (In my opinion the last and best expansion to WoW. Granted WOTLK has enjoyable content as well). So far none of the servers I have tried come close to the original game, until now.

Introducing World of Corcraft.

For the last three years this group worked putting together a private TBC server with a retail experience. I have yet to try it as their beta testing days are not when I'm available. However, from their statements and video it seems the server is going to deliver. One good indicator for this is all players are to have a retail version of TBC.
They do not provide the game client. They do have all the patches up to 2.43 which is the last patch before WOTLK. The release date is this December.

Some of the best times gaming with friends was during TBC. Would be a blast to do it again. If any of you are interested a few of us from the day are going to give this a whirl. You are welcome to join us.

i own all the way up until WOTLK, and i played WOTLK for literally 1 month. if i can find my disc versions of it i'd love to give it a go, these mod servers were very fun back in the day. loved BC

even if one does not own TBC the cost of getting it is small. Should not have to pay more than $20.

Corecraft cannot charge for a subscription to play. They will rely on donations and money made from the item store. The item store, unlike other private servers, will not have gear or weapons to purchase.

I've played WoW since beta...shit I remember the 15 man UBRS raids...those were dreadful back in the day, but truly fun.

I still have a subscription to wow, I played competitive in wow, I did get few realm firsts for finishing raid content first in the server: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/kelthuzad/Everhowl/achievement#81

After all these years the game started becoming very stupid. I miss the party of the game where it was challenging, nowadays the game tells you where exactly you need to go to get your quest done...back in the day you had to figure this shit out on your own or go on the web to search it. Content was much harder, raids were more fun, the people were more mature, and the gear felt more special...

Its the same shit every year with world of warcraft, I find some of the stuff very repetitive and raids becoming more and more boring, SoO was not that bad, but nothing like Vanilla Raids or TBC raids...In my opinion AQ20 & AQ40 were the best raids ever created, Black Temple and Hyjal take a close 2nd and Tempest Keep and SSC take a close 3rd.

Vanilla Naxxramas was good too.
I truly miss the 40 man raids, it was fun raiding with that many people, that meant less pressure on you, with 20-25 man raids its way too much pressure, less room for mistakes, and it makes raids more boring because you have to do way more.

For some reason I am a sucker, I keep going back to it every few years, the longest break I've ever gotten from WoW was like 2 1/2 years...
I went back to WoW at the beginning of this year, played casual for a good 6 months then quit again because it just doesn't keep me entertained for a prolonged amount of time.

These days I enjoy played on my console than PC, I am sure that will change again in few months.

Was going to post my Blizzard rant in another forum as I was afraid it might take this off topic. I do agree, though. Blizzard betrayed its core fan base. The game now is at the level of Sesame Street. Repeat after me 1, 2, 3. Yay, you can count! WoW lost my subscription at Cataclysm. Tried to play Pandaria, but lost all interest in the game after seeing the new talent trees. Was logged in a whole 30 min.

Did not have the pleasure of playing Vanilla. Wish I did. Heard Naxxramas was awesome. They broght it back in WOTLK, but I bet it was not the same. All the raids in BC were a blast. Even the dungeons were difficult especially on heroic. The raids in BC were well engineered in that even with gear from WOTLK you had to know the fight and could not solo some of them.

Fourty man raids sounds like more headache than fun. Guess I am thinking in a lead guild role, though. Really enjoyed the 25 and 10 man raids. Perfect number of players. I have always played heals in MMOs. This kind of preasure is fun for me.

Haha, yea, I keep hoping that they came to their senses, so I log in only to see the truth, Blizzard likes making money over making a fantastic game.

Will post when the server is available.

FYI, do not buy the game from Blizzard. The client will update to the current version if you do. This has to be done using the disc World of Warcraft then the TBC expansion disc. These discs can be bought from Amazon or eBay. It is okay to buy a used disc just make sure it comes with the key on the disc cover. This is what you are looking for:
There are full instruction on the World of Corecraft website, or just click here.

40 man raids of Molten Core were rad. 40 man Alterac Valley battlegrounds were radder.
