What's new

Recommend a good gaming headset!

This is why I actually preferred my apple earpods. Problem was that the mic was shit (thouigh I think that had more to do with the fact that my on-board mic was still on when I was using my earpods).

So my G930s are pooping the bed now. Having the same problems Nut reported with his. Going to Fry's to pick up a new headset today. I'll see what they have in store for me...

Wnt with the G430s from Logitech. No more wireless issues to deal with, same comfy ear cup I'm used to, and virtual 7.1 surround sound. $80... SOLD.

After unboxing and testing, these headphones SUCK.

Sound quality is terrible compared to the G930.
For some reason, after plugging these headphones into my comp, my ping is terrible. I have no clue why. I've never had bad ping and my network bandwidth is free. weird.

Definitely taking these back and getting something else that has better sound quality.

The G35's are good shit man... bass sucks if you want that... but i have logitech 2.1 THX system for that. The the G35's are nice same sound as the G930's without the d/c issues as they are wired. :)

I originally owned the HyperX by kingston. The mic died after about a year. I moved on to the steelseries siberias V2 and so far am loving the sound quality as well as the mic.

These will beat any gamer headset.

Edit: Since I can't see the Amazon thing above. It's a pair of Seinheiser HD558's for about $93

i have no recommendation, but i just wanted to give another shoutout to my free.99, tried and true plantronics .audio 90 headset from 2002. i've bought other headsets over the years, but i still use this one because it just works. i only use it for cs, so no real need for hi fidelity - i got a sound system for that.

Yes, the G35 looks exactly like my G930, just wired instead of wireless. And yes, the sound quality is BAUCE. Thanks for the tip. I'm going to return these crappy headphones and get the G35's.

Thanks everyone for your input, too!

Returned my headset and Fry's didn't have the G35 in stock...

So after researching almost all the headsets on the shelf, I ended up going with the Corsair VOIP RGB wired headset.
They were priced at $130, but Fry's matched New Egg's price of $79. I ended up walking out of the store with a much better set and only paid about $8 after returning the Logitech ones.

I always buy in store because I like having the option of walking into a store to return stuff, and swap for new gear same day. I'm just too impatient to get stuff mailed. Plus, Fry's will match any price online, so the only reason not to buy in store is that you have limited options. Whatever they have in stock is what you're getting. ;)

The headset fits snugly, and it has a sturdy, sleek design with an LED breathing RGB colors on the left cup. They look and feel quite nice. Only negative I read about was people having issues with their mics. We'll see about that. Otherwise I'm very happy after unboxing, and they worked right from the get-go after plugging in the USB.

And, last but not least, the sound quality is amazing. At last, a headset I can work with!
