Nah, that's the best place to grab a cat to calm him/her. I use the method (origins are Vulcan, I think) to give meds, clip claws, etc. Never thought of using a clip to free both hands though. This should be in a DIY section.

a mother cat will grab its kitten behind the neck and carry it.... the animal will be motionless or "paralyzed" but depending on the situation will work most of the time... i.e. 98% of the time.... unless the cat is really pissed the hell off.
