What's new

New Phone Time

whatever you do, don't sign a damn contract. i just got stuck with Sprint for 2 fucking years, and i regret it.

It's time for a new phone! I wanted to see what's out there and what you all think is the best. I know for sure that I am interested in the following phones, please give your thoughts and recommendations about these phones or others. As a sidenote, I am not so much concerned about exterior phone design, as performance is more important for my uses. I've never liked Apple iOS or small screens; however, if Apple has a larger phone in the works, I might consider it.

Current carrier - Sprint. May consider switching, but only to T-mobile. They have excellent service where I live and I like the concept of not having a contract.

1. Galaxy s5
2. Galaxy Note 4 (whenever it comes out)
3. HTC One M8
4. Google Nexus 6 (whenever it comes out)
5. Your suggestions!

521 is great. cheap. the 925 is $220 ish but much bigger screen and better camera. get a prepaid SIM plan. wah lah

I bought a 521 (pretty much the same as 520 but for t-mobile) to play with. I think the OS is pretty slick and is smooth on the low-end phones. It just severely needs more apps. I know that'll get better in time.
Also, speaking of cheaper and/or no contract phones, the Moto G has been a hit. A bit lower in specs, but still amazing for the $99 it's sold for at some places.

I'm with you fK. I've been on AT&T pre-paid gophone for years now. Wide selection of GSM phones. Only AT&T, T-Mobile, and other not-so popular providers are GSM. The rest use CDMA (SIMcard-less?). Whenever I go to the Philippines (I'm a flip), I just stick a local SIM card in my phone to avoid roaming and text to oblivion.

I took my windows phone to china and it had a hard time sync to the APP store. and it wasn't working right in terms of data and shit....disappointment

Yeah, Chinese sim cards are weird.

They work fine for calls and texts, but data plans need some extra help, especially apple crap.

But I agree with tuc0 - GSM phones all the way. Essentially the rest of the world uses sim card technology, but only a few markets fully utilize CDMA.

I believe the GS3 was one of few that really worked well with an Sim card in any country and used full CDMA
