L's Prospectrive 2016 computer 1070 edition

That NCASE M1 is really nice, but damn that price is steep. It's not released yet, but the Dan A4-SFX chassis (crowdfunded) is also nice and (will be very) expensive. I like the HG Osmi, but it can't fit a full size GPU.

@kaM do you have pics of your build? are the corsair modular cables too long? The last mini-ITX build I did (for a friend) used a Silverstone modular PSU, and the cables were still too long; so I had to shorten them myself. I was thinking of using a pico PSU... but haven't done much research into those.

At first i thought how the hell is that card in there. then i saw the long ass ribbon cable to the riser card... im just purprised he didnt swap out the intel heatsink with a dynatron one or similar

he tried a bunch of cpu coolers, check out the [H] thread on it. it's a spoiler tag, so you'll have to click it to show the cooling review results. But yah, that riser alone costs $120, lol. I'd be tempted if i was still at my old job. Hell, that M1 case is very tempting, too - I just can't justify spending that much on a case.

If you don't mind looks, a good PCI-E riser is only like $5 - A black one runs about $25. You can see all the compatible PSU/Coolers on his site at https://www.dan-cases.com/dana4.php

The thing with the M1 for example is they are limited run cases, so you're paying for that and the case itself.

For those with mid to full towers did you guys take time to into figuring out flows on positive vs negative flows?

I like to keep most fans as intakes and only exhausts on the radiators or the back of the case. Found this keeps optimal temperatures in most of the better built cases like corsair nzxt phanteks. I'm really liking phanteks cases.

Yah, the 3M riser is shielded, so it's expensive; I mean, you could just wrap a cheaper riser's cables with foil for much less, lol.

Yah, I wish the M1 wasn't a limited production... oh well.

I want to use one of these next... It's just so pretty.

@kaM Haha I would go for the Tempered Glass but I plan to bring the thing with me to LA so having the tempered glass would be iffy I thought about it earlier when selecting my current case as a tempered glass option was available

Anyways heres the Build I think I set my sights on

@IcEWoLF Reguarding graphics card are u going to use the stepup program that evga offers? or are you gunna refund it through newegg?

Edit: Wrong cpu can was listed

I am refunding my MSI cards through newegg, then gonna buy the 1080 gtx if its available through evga, if its not then I'll rebuy the 980gtx ti through evga and step it up to whatever the next best version is going to be. At that point evga has 90 days to release their next best version of the card.
