Lasers pew pew pew

Some pretty nasty weaponry being developed by the US, that laser is nasty!

I also love the rail gun being deployed on Navy ships, kinetic energy released in a spectacular fireworks. Take a five pound object, accelerate to several thousand miles an hour and watch large objects disappear many miles away.
 
This is very similar to the Raytheon laser project ADS (Active Denial System) which like Lockhead's ATHENA can stop vehicles as well.

Yea but its is a fricken laser! LOL. Nah but IMHO unless they find a much better way to implement and deploy the "laser" its not very viable. As some one posted in that article... production costs and implication costs and the sheer cost of energy to fire the laser far our reach the cost of a good .50 cal uranium depleted round from a sniper rifle which can render any vehicle including a tank inoperable! Short term waste of money but in the long term could be well spent money. But I do stress the "could be" part.
 
Im still waiting for the directional microwave emitter thatll fry the chips that run the engine of a car, was shown off about 12 or so years ago... It was aimed at LAPD for high speed pursuits which spiked at that point in time
 
more expensive now to develop but over time will be much more powerful and much cheaper, ultimately replacing the need for a .50 cal bullet. also, laser is not affected by human, wind or anything else over distance, just perfect precise computer aiming. we're all gonna die from machines.
 
I saw one of these or something like it strapped on to one of our aircraft carriers. It was so badass! I will look for the video now and add it to this post.
