Edit.... damnit i just reread your post and i wasted time typing all this up.....
yarr since you were laid off you qualify for EDD unemployment claim. essentially you can get pay from your last job for an x period. depending on how much you make you will essientially get payed at most every 2 weeks about 10 bucks an hour.
file a claim @ Employment Development Department input your salary history and reasons for being terminated. saying i was laid off because company looked for budget cuts should suffice.
takes about a month for it to start but when approved (they will also submit to you a credit card where cash will be deposited. you can do direct deposit but i havent done this myself
Here are some requirements once you qualify.
Do not miss a submission date for a claim form!!!! (must be submitted after date listed within 2 weeks) or you can do online submissions and skip mail forms and speeed up the process from 1 week to 2-3 days.
register with caljobs (somewhat required)
cal jobs can act as proof your looking for a job.
if you do find work you can still receive money from your claim you just cant forget to submit your claim form. with info from your current job
ive gone through this twice. hmu if you have any questions
