I don't remember anyone ever stating that the auto balance actually worked. It does offer a remix of the top players and, at times, has an impact that is positive to a balanced team. More often than not it just shuffles people around, some times repeatedly, all night long.
Been there done that and all you have done is just stacked the team that was getting it's ass handed to them. More likely you need to look at #3-#5 players, the biggest discrepancy is usually here and one team will be just below a -k\d and the other team will have those next three guys in positive k\d. I really hate screwing with other players right to play one side, when it gets so one sided I need to step in, I'll shuffle the teams and let the RNG figure it out. I get less crap for moving people and some times it actually works out, others it is no worse then the auto balance.
