How to Improve your Aim

Guys,

Just figured out a trick to improve my aim.

Focus on the crosshairs at all times while moving throughout the map. This is a practice done with tactical combat persons; they always look down their sights.

When I encounter an opponent, take my eyes of the crosshairs, spot the opponent, then look back to the sights and line up the opponent.

With this method, I can shave miliseconds off lining up a target, and with more accuracy too. I can also hit targets I normally wouldn't be able to as well.

Why does this help?

I have a massive aiming problem. This is a condition also characterized as sucking ass.

Using this technique, I realize that keeping my eyes on the crosshairs at all times makes it easier to line up a target because I know where the crosshairs are at all times. Before doing this, I was not very spatially aware of where my crosshairs were, and it took extra time and calculation to line them up. Using the new tactic, it's much, much easier.

Hope this is useful for someone.

Take care,

Oh, by the way, I use a pink crosshair with no center dot, and no dynamics.

cl_crosshairdot 0
cl_crosshairthickness 3
cl_crosshairsize 3

i just keep my crosshair at head-level, and always aim for where the opponent would be (anticipate!).

So an update on prez's thread. Funny thing, when i first started to utilize the start, where you focus on the crosshair and move it on your opponents head...dude it worked. There was some legit headshots i got down on the headshot only server iw as rolling on. Im talking about, they get in my line of sight, i move my crosshair over their dome, and i click. fantastic.

The main drawback though is that like every strat, it doesnt work 100% of the time. Often times to really utilize the strat metioned, you have to be standing still. Thats kind of a no no. Standing still for more than a split second is deadly.

I'll say this, maybe the strat mentioned...maybe i need to get better with it to use it to its advantage, but i cannot bring myself to stand still. Ive kind of trained my self to keep mobile.

Right-on man, glad to hear you had some success.

Regarding the moving around, I cranked up my mouse speed up so that I could look around more quickly. When I manuver while looking down the sights, I make miniature moves, rather than larger sweeping ones, so it doesn't take much to get used to the new muscle memory calibration.

A large aspect that helps is using periphery to detect targets.

I suspect that once I get better with this method, I'll pick up a sense of when to stare down the sighs, and when I can get away with looking at the non-crosshair part of my screen.

It does take a lot of practice, but the payoff is that; when I 'will' a kill, it's easier to execute. And, that's exactly what I've been looking for.

Happy hunting yall,

Crosshairs are good for alot of RL applications such as windage and leading a target. most of this is non existent on this game. In a combat situation you have your weapon zeroed to a certain distance (such as 300 meters) and depending on the distance your target is from you, you will want to aim lower or higher using your top and bottom of the crosshair. same goes with longer shots w/ a wind which would slide right or left. Yes in RL is is best to have your sites affixed/aligned to what your shooting at as this gives a much faster reaction time but can cause difficulties in your movement... none of which matters much in this game. LOL. But there are alot of RL tactics that do help in game but are much more difficult to master in RL. That and peaking is much more shall I say a important thing... and more dangerous. :)

oh and as for crosshairs in this game I make them as small as possiable and put a dot in the center of my screen with a sharpie which is what i use most for my aiming. :D
