Education

I'm majoring in Marketing at a pretty damn good business school in Massachusetts. I would loveeeeeee to get a job in sports marketing, and I hope to get an internship with a Boston sports team next year. I'm graduating a year late...the 5 year plan made more sense for me.

I went to LSU originally for secondary education/french. I was there for a year, went to a school in California for a year through an exchange program, and then came back to Louisiana for my 3rd year. However, once I realized I wanted a degree in business/marketing/advertising, I realized LSU did not have the program I wanted...especially for how much I was paying. I transferred to a school back home for this year and I am graduating in May 2015. I definitely plan on getting my MBA and I really really really hope I can score a job within a major sports industry...working for any sports team. I absolutely love to travel and I am honestly willing to get up and move just about anywhere to get a new experience and see more of the world :)

Im working on my second year on just my reqs now.. going back as a single parent raising 3 kids full time no support made me realize how to value getting my degree more.. i feel tho like i dont want to be stuck in one area.. its hard to decide.. i like IT, Business management, but i have a facination for law/IP Law.. my mother constantly tells me i should be a prosecutor...I honestly have too much of a conscience for being a defense lawyer tho..yet im drawn even thinking maybe literature or a doctor... but as a 34 yr old..im torn and feel time is against me.. choices choices...decisions decisions..tomato potato..derp

I just booked my schooling to get Carpentry Ticket this March. lots High Rises here in Vancouver! buisness iss a' boomin. :greedy:

I graduate from college June 2012 with a Comp Eng. major. I didn't have a great GPA so grad school is out of the question for now, but at the moment I feel like I won't try going back to school. Two weeks after graduation someone found my resume online and I got a job. Landed a job w/ a company called General Networks where I do full time SharePoint Administrator/Support duties for the Walt Disney Co.

When I landed this job, I was not sure if it was the right fit for me as I found myself being bored quite often. But as I gained more responsibilities, I really enjoy what I'm doing now. In the time I have been w/ the company I'm now part Software/SharePoint Developer part SharePoint & Windows Admin, I've been promoted once(so far), and just last week I got another raise :).

I'm not sure if this is what I want to be doing for the next 30-40 years or so, but I'm happy so long as I have interesting work and decent pay. I'm also not sure how long this job will last as our company is on a contract basis with Disney and we could all lose our jobs at any given year, but that doesn't look likely at the moment based on interactions with other Disney IT employees.

I think your missing a key point from my experience so far is that education after school doesn't really end. You may not have homework and such anymore, but there's still much more you can learn(related to your field or not). For now, instead of grad school, I'm putting extra time into getting MCSE/MCSM Sharepoint Certification in case I happen to lose this job :/. Then maybe some other kind of certs.

As far as finances go. I really have no idea right now... I've just been saving and paying off my car. Started a 401k and that's about it

Paid off all debts first, then save money?

I saw this on Fluffy: An Arab guy is telling a joke, it goes like this:

"So, two Jews walk into a bar."

I'm currently enrolled at a community college ( Mount San Antonio College ) and majoring in Chem Engineering. Its been hard to get classes so I;ll hopefully get my degree in 5 years as compared to the usual 4. I'm into my second year now, so I still have a long way to go.

I really enjoy the classes, but its hard. I don't have the free time to go partying like most of my friends do, BUT I do get time.

After my bachelor's I want to get my MBA done and hopefully work in some finance firm or take the management route in engineering. Not sure yet, might even get my masters.

I'm at a community college because I Didn't want to spend 200k on my bachelors when i got offered a spot at UC Berkeley - Just because I did my high school abroad. I guess they wanted money =S.....meh. But anyhow I'm now funding myself and hopefully I should graduate with a degree with 0 dollars in debt or at max 10k.

@fAt Kaka guess high school comes in for me. My econ and accountant teachers really helped us and explained to us about mortgage, loans, buying houses and etc. While my dad explained to be about retirement but then again he's retirement is 401K which most company dropped out.

Currently studying for Chem E and boy it is one hard major... I'm planning pursue with petroleum engineering after undergrad but with my shitty GPA I don't know if I can. Still after Petro E or even with Chem E I'm hoping to land a job at Tesoro, Chevron, or Exxon and work at either their refinery for down stream process or on site offshore for upstream process. I dont think I can stand working in an office even though it would be more hours I would rather work out on the field not to mention I can make some serious $$ :D

Currently I despise my Vector statics class I dont understand why I need to learn that shit when we got Mechanical E to do for us. With the amount of math and chem classes I need for my major I can practically minor both chem and math after taking 1-3 more classes.

I feel you bro , T.T ...I want to join an oil company as well and then do an MBA or masters , haven't decided yet.

Also I'm like you I like being out there on the field, can't stand offices T.T.

But lately for some reason I've been interested in stocks as well 0_O. Ugh too many choices T.T
