Concealed Carry Licenses in CA

I absolutely agree that you should know how to shoot and show responsibility. (I've comp shot for a long time)

I also think that any carry should be legal. I should have full advantage when it comes to my personal protection, don't take that away from me. I carry everywhere legal. I don't expect to get in a shootout, I don't want to. I always wear my seatbelt, I don't expect to get in a car crash, I don't want to. I just want it if, hopefully never, I need it.

However, if you open carry in today's time (around town) you are an idiot (law aside) as it would make you a target and comes with a plethora of different problems that it's not worth the hassle.

California has and always will have a population problem. Mass concealed carry might help with deterring crime, might help crime. I just don't want to live in a state that won't let me protect myself reasonably.

I would agree, far too many idiots who do not care about the law are the ones concealing and carrying right now in CA. Level the playing field and let those folks that can pass a stringent field test for handling, shooting and maintaining a gun get the CC. If you look back at all the worse mass shooting over the last few years, the one equalizer that could of been in place was not, another responsible person with a gun and ability to use it effectively.

Which, from my reading of the decision, is what the 9th Circuit understood to be the problem with CCW bans. The laws restrict one from protecting oneself through the exercise of their 2nd Amendment Rights.

There is too many nut jobs these days to let people have CCW. IMO

A) That doesn't change the second amendment.

B) Gun crime fluctuates, but is now down. These gun restrictions have limited (if any) correlation to crime. More people die by stabbing. :)

Actually America has the highest homicide rate with gun.

In the U.S., violent crimes are down. (FBI — Violent Crime )

California, with its stricter gun control laws, has the highest total firearms-related homicides. (FBI — Table 20 )

ya, Texas, with the one of the least strict gun control, has the second highest total firarms-related homicides.

The point is, you can't really relate homicide rate from states to states due to population of each state is different. You have to calculate it by Per Capita. Its kinda like a town that only has 10 people and each year there is about 1 murder happens in that town. On paper, one murder a year sounds very low, but that's about 10 percent of the population. If a town has 10,000 people and there is about 100 murder a year, that sounds really scary. In percentage point of view, the amount of murder of each town is still the same.

actually, handgun has the highest homicide rate.

I am not against people have ownership of guns or weapons, but I do believe there should be a restriction on gun ownership.

yea that's my bad, the stat about guns vs knives is actually about "assault weapons" vs knives, not all guns.

All those stats are per capita. Any other metric doesn't make any sense. Also, much of the gun crime is by minorities against minorities. It's not the guns, it's the culture clash.

Point is, there is no meaningful statistical relationship between gun control and lower gun crime. There are only random happenings countered by other random happenings. There aren't that many (if any) more mass murders now than before either, it's all the media.

No one thinks that Johnny-you-who should be able to walk in someplace and walk out with an AR.. at least I don't know anyone.

hmm those stats are not in per capita. Those stats are based on police report filed, which does not include ones are not filed. You can't really say most of the gun crimes are minorities against minorities. There are 16 school shooting since beginning of the year and 17 injured and 3 dead. I believe none of those are minorities related. If those stats are really in per capita, OMFG California has 1,879 murder per person. That's like for every person that is born, there is about 1879 people die from murder just in California alone.

Everyone has heated moments in their life and sometimes you lose control of yourself and you let your anger get the better side of yourself. The movie theater shooting was a perfect example of a heated argument turn into a tragedy. A ex-cop went to a movie theater and got annoyed by the guy in the front of him keep texting the babysitter about his baby. The ex-cop got fed up because the guy wouldn't stop texting, so he took out his gun and shot the guy that was texting and killed him.

Like I said, I don't have problem with people have guns. Its their own choice to have a gun or not. Having a gun on you while going to a restaurant, a bar, a mall or whatever might turn something really small into someone getting shot.

I stopped playing CS for like 10 years because my god brother got shot and he is wheelchair for life because of counter-strike. The story goes two people were scrimming and one person accuse the other person hacking. That argument turn into a physical fist fight. My god brother was trying to stop the fight and that fight turn into a shoot out.

The million dollar question is, what is perfect regulation to balance the both side. Because you can't have no regulation on guns and there can't no guns because of the 2nd amendment.
