Comp not booting

Check if you installed the CPU correctly
Check all cables were attached, 4-8 pins EPS 12V to the CPU ...etc...
Unplug the new HDD and try to boot
Short pins on the PSU and check for 5V, 3.3V and 12V, see below pic

Try other Ram slots.
Check for bent pins on the CPU socket.
I think it's your mobo maybe at fault here.
 
did you even plug in the three prong?

make sure you check out the vK store for deets. Don't let him touch you before the goods are handed over, Ghonzo.

If it was a different port that the BIOS was pointing to looking for a bootable hd, it would boot to a hard drive failure but still load BIOS. He is having a primary failure and I am guessing that it is a CPU not seated error causing it to shut down. The other time I had a dead motherboard and spent way too many hours troubleshooting a dead end.

He is getting a primary failure prior to BIOS loading, this would be PSU and CPU as primary culprits. Remove everything but the CPU, PSU and ram, try a reboot. See if you can get the system to boot to at least BIOS. There could also be an internal short on one of motherboard traces, nothing can be done for this and you will need to RMA that board.

Did you closely inspect the pinouts for the CPU socket? Make sure that there are no troubles here, they are usually fairly obvious if you look closely. If you are certain the CPU is in good order, the PSU is outputing a proper 12V and 5V respectively, and still can not get it to boot to BIOS, return that motherboard ASAP.

Im thinking my PSU might have died out on me or giving out improper voltage I just disconnected my PSU and turned it off for now. I might have damaged the internal wiring or something while cleaning it. Didnt have time to touch my rig today might do it tonight. I got the CPU in to the right socket as I looked at my mobo instruction for the seatings.

Wow...that should have been the first thing you should have checked LOL!
Sometimes its the most simplest things that really mess things up.
 
haha, fired it up first try and it worked. was gonna image his drive for him, but he doesn't partition his os from his data, and it would've taken quite a while to clone the drive. i think his gf was nagging him to hurry back or something... i heard that whip smack. :p told him how to do it, so hopefully we'll see him on tonight.

How can it be your outlet when you saw lights on the mobo, it also booted for a second then stop? kinda confused here
 
I think he put the PSU outlet into the CPU socket, the CPU into the PCIE socket and stuck the CPU cooler to the VGA card.
