CoilOvers

Hunter, let me know if you are shopping around for a performance auto shop. My friend's boyfriend just opened up a place in Milpitas and it is a legit operation.

I noticed Audi is tricky and most of the shops refused to work on them.
Your friends familiar with European cars?

@Fasttrak

I have been lurking the Audi 4rums....most of them suggested the CoilOvers over the Spring only....I am confused :(

I like the sway bars ideas, thanks!

I did my cars piece at a time whenever I have the $ and the parts are on sale.

I'm not familiar with Euro cars, but if you going for looks, maybe you can start with lowering springs? You will prolly sacrifice ride though then you can add matching shocks later. If you want more, add anti-roll/sway bars later if you want to cut corners.

I went with non-coilovers, springs/dampers because of cost and simplicity, for Rustangs about 1/2 price. I installed them myself after watching youtube vids, forums, and reading installation sheets.

There are really many many different approaches to upgrading your suspension. Ultimately, if you have the $$$, take it to a shop, and get it over with.

Same here, it took me about a month and a half to work through each of the different stages. First thing I did was replace some of the rubber mounts to polyurethane and swapped end links to solid metal with new Whiteline swaybars. After that I did the motor, turbo, intercooler, injectors and fuel pump plus new engine management. Once that was done and the car running good I bought the Koni inserts along with Race Comp Engineering springs along with racing top hats front and rear. The struts were a bit of work as you have to cut the stock struts apart and the Koni slides into the stock strut housings and bolts into the unit. Still tinkering with the front\rear valving on the struts to get that perfect balance of turn in and mid turn transitions. Since Hunter is going to have a shop do the work, I would order all the parts at once and have them ready for a day or two install, it will save some money this way.

Edit for Hunter:
I spoke to a buddy just now, he owns an BMW M3 and has had quite a bit of work done to it. I asked who he has working on his car and if he knew anyone that had Audi experience around San Jose and he was happy to report the place he goes to does German cars exclusively. They do exactly what your are looking for and Audi is one of their primary cars. These guys will know all the tricks and be able to offer you very critical and useful specifics to the car and help you get what you want from it, plus they know all the idiosyncrasies of that model of car you have. I would highly suggest getting a quote from a couple shops and get specifics of brands to be used and cost to install.

Yeah sorry I didn't point it out, but definitely shop around and see how you can get the best price for quality of work performed. Good luck!
