Alcohol

I've always loved the phrase "guns don't kill people, people kill people". It applies to a lot of things really. Just gotta know who you are and what you can and can't do. It's an easy thing to blame the things in our lives for the actions we do, but just learn from it and move on. If you find that you don't have the self control for moderation (or a fully functional straight jacket) then to abstain is the way to go.

Good luck with what ever you decide, and try a nice analgesic creme for the but sex pain.

Some of you may remember my run-ins with drugs/alcohol over the years, and I'll just say this. Psychotropic substances should be taken seriously, if at all, (pun intended) and treated with respect. Having that said, only you can decide for your-self whether they are a good thing for YOU or not. Ultimately, you are the one who has to be responsible for your own future, and if you think not drinking/drugging will improve your quality of life, more power to ya! Do what YOU gotta do. IMO, it all comes down to the freedom of personal choice, as long as you're not hurting anyone else.

This point of view comes from someone who lost a friend (and wife/mother of a dear friend of mine) to drugs/alcohol last week. It's not the first and it won't be the last.

Take your life seriously.

yea ive noticed that when im drunk i have the shortest temper. n when im not drunk i would let my gf walk all over me. in the end i realized theres no point in drinking just to be liek that. but its not like i instigate any fights... haha

At what point does drinking enable an aimbot? :p
Semi-seriously though, if drinking puts the balance between you and your girlfriend, you might need a new girlfriend. :)
I think my brother-in-law gets drunk nightly to put up with my sister. But she's crazy, so I don't know what sober person could.

yea my gf seems to get auto irritated when i take a few shots.. which annoys me. and it becomes a fight. lol

LOL. My guess is that your brother-in-law drank nightly before he married your sister. In fact, that's how he ended up married to her only to realize later that marrying her was his best bet for maintaining his nightly drinking.

Brother-in law: "Man, I married a crazy woman. What do I do now?"
John Q. Public: "Wow dude, that's messed up. here, the next round is on me."
Brother-in-law: "She has a hairy back too."
John Q. Public: "Holy Sh__...Keep the bottle man."
Brother-in-law: <silent evil laugh>

Just tell her that she wouldn't be mad if she wasn't menstruating. That'll fix any future problems with the gf.

Seriously though, talk to her about it when you aren't drinking. It might take a bit of prying to get her to be truthful as to why she'd prefer that you didn't take that shot or two. If your first reaction is to call her a liar and a bitch and storm out the door as you tell her you're going to the bar without her...then you may want to step back and take a second look at what you're doing and why you're doing it. Her reason(s) may not even have anything to do with you. Whatever her reason(s), it's probably important to her and unless she's not important to you then you'll want to give her feelings the attention they require and perhaps deserve. If you don't then I promise you'll just end up a middle-aged fat divorced guy whose only friends are those he's found online, some of which don't even like you. Not that I'd know or anything. Just speculating.

I think he did, Civil. His last wife claimed he was an alcoholic. Haha
