47Ronis Rock Heaven the Hardest!!!!

Well the 780 beats the R9 in every benchmark doesn't it? (except for heavy computation?)

But I still don't know why he needs two of those things. Prepping for 4k?

I think I will stick with 1080p for the next while. The average 30 percent performance hit by moving up to 1440p is a little too much to swallow. I am finding that certain games are cpu bound at 1080p, in fact a lot are. I realize that at this point for me to get the most out of my setup I need to go 1440p. That is why I have a planned upgrade to the ASUS Swift 1440p G-sync monitor.

When I build out a personal rig it will last me for 3-5 years... Or when I have to cut out eye candy to get good fps... At that point I will have to decide if an upgrade for the gpu's is enough... Depending on weather or not the rest of the system will become a bottleneck... I went from a q6700 core 2 quad processor at 3.2Ghz to a 3770k at 4.7 ghz on the cpu and up from two 5970's in x-fire to what I have now... My upgrade was a 5 fold or more increase in power so the upgrade was worth it and I will ride this horse until it dies... We are not at 4k gaming yet... A similar set up to mine only managed 30-40 fps in AAA games with middling eye candy settings... Right now 1440p is the limit on resolution... There I will see 80+ fps in most games which I can settle for... I love playing games at 144Hz/fps right now so going to 1440p and 80+fps is a hard sale right now... I'm not crazy... This is just my philosophy with personal rigs

I think it's just the bug! You had two Titans before, I'll be impressed if you don't upgrade something in the next year ;)

That being said I kind of wish I could do what you do, lol.

If I upgrade anything it will be moving my mass storage to a 2Tb ssd when they hit later this year. Storage prices are supposed to drop by about 40 percent this year and capacity is supposed to double or triple as well. Ssd storage is very secure in the respect of long term with little to no writes. My Vector 150 has a 5 year warranty with 50Gb a day writes so I see the mass storage option being more safe for valuable pictures and what not.

he has two GTX 780 ti which cost $700 each, rich bastard :)

If you only knew how poor I am. After my divorce is over I might have enough money to save. Right now between lawyer fees, paying her bills and sending her a check each month I basically live check to check with enough money to take my girls out for ice cream after church on Sundays.

I keep seeing these Maxwell leaks... 3200 Maxwell streaming processors and the huge on die memory.... 8gb of vram.. This card is built for 4k... I would wait to buy Maxwell until the die shrink to 18-20nm happens... This year will still be 28nm...not like that is bad or anything but temps and clocks will be better after the die shrink.... Im still going to wait until at least Volta or the architecture after it before I upgrade.
