Really?...-_-

dont be so closed minded and shallow. just because you got busted smoking some weed in a public place like a dumb fuck or got a ticket for doing 10mph over the speed limit doesnt mean all cops are bad. not saying all cops are good, but majority sign up to actually do good and TRY to make a difference. Cause honestly, how many of you with the acception of gaspar, would honestly run in the direction of gun fight, or throw down with gang bangers that want to kill you and try to kill you on a daily basis just because of the badge on your chest. people dont realize being a police officer isnt a cake walk. its a great deal of stress, both mental and physical. it is a very taxing job and frankly, most police officers are underpaid. have a gun pulled on you, then tell me how you feel.. fuck that, get shot at and hear bullets whizzing over your head.

It really depends on where you live. Yes, not all cops are bad. Los Angeles county sheriff station is just plain bad. My house was robbed before. It took them about 2 hours to show up. when they finally showed up, they told me my address is not correct because the physical address is not in the correct city. I told them that city hall determine my address to be this city and they told me city hall is wrong according their map book that they have. They end up not taking a police report because my address "wasn't" in the correct city according to their map book regardless what the city hall or any other departments says.

One time my friend got hit and run near the sheriff station. The car got totaled and Took them 1 hour to get there and told my friend that the location is not under their jurisdiction so they left without doing a damn thing. The CHP showed up about 30 minutes later and was confused why the sheriff won't just do a police report for my friend so he can show the insurance company.

Recently, the LA sheriff station's two deputy got caught for planting false evidences against a store owner for possession of drugs and fire arm.

That poor girl that was beaten at Santa Ana local bar to death. Yes, security guards are assholes for not helping her out. It took the cops 30 minutes to arrive on scene. She was announced dead after 24 hours.

I don't have problem with cops writing tickets. I don't have a problem with cops catching people smoking weed or doing drugs. That's part of their job. When the police's job description is serve and protect, they have to protect the community. I don't see them protecting anyone when really comes down to it.

You say it's under funded? The LA county sheriff average salary is around 65,000. Let see, the national average of per capita is 51,749. So the LA county sheriff station personnel is getting paid more than average America. Please explain to me if that's under funded.

Also, not enough police officer to go around? LA county is a multi-city county. Almost all city have their own police department on top of the sheriff station. When you need help and call anyone of them, they will tell you it's not in their jurisdiction because of your location. When it comes down to writing traffic violation? All of them have jurisdiction to write them in front of your neighborhood.

Move everyone and the server to small little Lodi, CA with me. I can leave my garage door open all day, shoot, I left my car door open all night on accident (not unlocked, wide open). Everything's still there. ha
No cop worries and our pings would all be <5ms.

Yao... you obviously don't understand. For 1, LA is an absolute shit hole and you couldn't pay me to be a police officer in that city. That police agency is complete shit based on the fact of all the bullshit that actually goes on in the city and they don't have nearly enough police officers or resources to actually do what they need to do. they are on a massive hiring spree just to get bodies with a badge on it for more police presence on the street because its so damn dangerous being a cop in LA that no cop rides solo. sorry but your house being BURGLARIZED**, and the suspect gone in LA... that's low priority, shit that's low priority in las vegas. The threat is gone and there are much more severe threats out there. just because a police officers average base pay is roughly 51k per year doesnt mean that these agencies have tons of cash flow. i've already used las vegas, so lets look at san diego for instance is hiring 600 officers over the next 5 years. SDPD officer to citizen ratio is sky high also. these bigger agencies have more shit to deal with less and less resources. Officers are retiring and they cant be replaced. If you think for 2 seconds 51k a year is a comfortable living for the kind of work we do, you are out of your fucking mind. ever had to rescue a kid from sitting in a pot of boiling water on the stove because her cracked out whore mother thought it was good punishment for spilling a glass of water? ever had to remove a kid from a home because the step father was sexually assaulting her when mom wasn't home. hell, ever been shot at while sitting down eating lunch because you're in uniform? how about this, ever had to go hands on with someone because they pulled a weapon on you and their intention was to use it and kill you? i could go on for days with fucked up scenarios half the world hasn't even thought of or couldn't even imagine. serve and protect is something a police officer does daily whether its patrolling the streets, writing a speeding ticket or even arresting some shit bag rapist. Example: writing a ticket for 50 in a 35 in protecting because who is to say that that asshole speeding doesn't go another mile up the road and cause an accident and kill someone or maybe a little kid runs out in the street to get a ball and they cant stop in time. like i said before, talk a walk around to the other side of the fence and look over, cause i guarantee your view would be a hell of a lot different. being a police officer is probably one of the most scrutinized jobs in american because people don't realize the kind of bullshit that we go through on a daily basis. if you honestly believe a police officers doesn't serve and protect, don't call us next time.

LA ratio is roughly 1 police officer to every 450 citizens. each call responded too is roughly 30-60 minutes given the nature of the call. do your math and then ask me why it took so long... i would guarantee you, LA 911 dispatch gets at least 10 calls every 30 seconds

Yea, I generally like the idea of givings cops lots of leeway. I think it's popular now to hate on them because they get in the way of people and their drugs, or what have you. They just don't like what they view as stupid laws being enforced. If you don't like the law, change it. Don't get angry at the cop.

I absolutely hate upholding certain laws but there is an oath you have to uphold. Gotta remember a police officer doesn't make the rules , laws or regulations. A police officer doesn't have to agree with the law but they have to enforce it whether it be writing a loitering ticket to a homeless man or something as severe as arresting a murder suspect.

On another note, when given a ticket by a police officer, it isn't an admittance of guilt it is only saying that you acknowledge you are receiving a ticket. You can fight a ticket and it may be reduced or thrown out completely.

Protip.. got a speeding ticket? Go get a cheap lawyer because 9/10 times the ticket is going to be reduced to a non-moving violation with no points on your license. still pay a fine, but the dmv and your insurance won't know about it

Or you can go to court and pray that the officer doesnt show up :D
