Biking

Wow FT. You're one hard core MTB ridin' mofo. I'm just gettin' started.

You have no clue, I used to work for Specialized when their mfg was based in Morgan Hill CA. Just a shipping a receiving idiot but access to so many cool parts and even their design guys plus outside vendors was awesome. I have mt biked most of the big places around CA many of which are illegal to ride on now, Mt Tamalpais used to be an awesome ride in the summer when it was hotter than hell down this way and now it is hiking only. Hell, most of the Santa Cruz stomps that used to be great are now no longer mt biker friendly, kind of sad really what this state has turned into, a Sierra Club nirvana.

Haha damn Fasttrak, that's a pretty nice setup. I've been riding for a bit of time and can't get bored of downhill. I really am to out of shape to climb to much, but when I do I really graps for the thrill of bombing down it haha :p.

Keep pushing yourself and you'll find a point where the climbs are where you find the greatest triumphs. There is a park in Nor Cal, still open and fully legal but I would call it an advanced trail system as it all requires a pretty hard workout to enjoy, check out Henry Coe State Park. Some of the best down hill that requires you to earn your way back up to the top, no motivation like death and despair to get your ass in gear.

oooh MTB expert. Can you please tell us which bikes to steer away from? Pls. don't tell me "Marin". I just bought a starter hardtail "Bobcat Trail" model from eBay. Same as this:

2013 Marin Bobcat Trail 17" Hardtail MTB 26" Bike Shimano 9S Hydro Disc New | eBay

After reading around, Full Suspension seems to be the way to go. So, I've been bidding for a new one but always getting outbidded. You think a Full Susp for $1500 is too much? @Col. Gaspar sneezes that on a gaming PC video card every quarter.

Marin has been around for a while and no longer made in Nor Cal, China like most of the big names including Specialized, Klein and many others. This seems to be a very good entry into the suspension mtb segment. The only thing I would suggest is making damn sure to get fitted properly for sizing the bike, use a local bike shop for that, they will be able to get you measured up and let you test ride a couple sizes to make sure it is comfortable and gives you room with out being too tall or too short.

here is a clip of me doing a wheelie on a downhill haha

yeah i look like shit but hey still doing it now and not sure where im going tomorrow

also this is in sf boyscout

Ouch, Ace, you may not look like shit but your sure as heck ate some on that one. Gotta say, I respect that, nothing ventured nothing gained and you only through your failures.

My worst crash was many years ago on my first custom bike, an early 90's Tom Ritchey Pro Comp, riding down Mt Tam in San Francisco. It was early morning and the fog was so heavy on the coast it was actually coming through a split in the Marin Mt range, creating a kind of fog waterfall, it had me mesmerized on a down hill and totally missed a hard edged rock in the middle of the trail. That spill was nasty and it was on shale rock, it tore me up something fierce and was immediately in shock and had a fever. That made for one long ride home.

well i think that was my first and only fall so far. places we went so far china camp, mt tam, el corte de madera creek, redwood, lake chabot, sequoia bayview trail, wildcat canyon, camp tamarancho, and lake tahoe northstar.

if you want all downhill then take a trip to northstar with the all day lift. it is the best and bad ass downhill you will ever get. just dont slow down or block others from having fun tho.
