our names, explained...

Prior name before Gasmasked was Roshamboking, probably by far and still my favorite episode from south park. Main Problem was, I didn't know "South Park" wasn't so huge in the States. So what I thought was a funny name just got absolutely annoyed by the fact people thought I couldn't spell "Roshan" from dota 1, since that's all i played when i was younger. Then I guess dubstep was just starting up with Mt eden and few others and they always had a Gasmask as a display picture or on the video somewhere. But I didn't want just "Gasmask" nor did i want to add stupid numbers or X's, so the random "ed" was added.
 
Clearly my name is STEEPED in layers.

Just because I want to actually say something here are a few of other nicknames I use.

Trogdor (Josh Lein) was my nickname for years but i just dropped trogdor for some reason.
On console's I go with either Josh's Thumbs or Joshypoo
Other names I've gone by are Nagstersept (that was literally just random) and Albatross because I love that poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and the imagery of the albatross around his neck and also because I wanted bad luck on people who killed me.
 
holy crap im late on this thread. a good read to see everyones name history. interesting for sure.

as for me. first of all, i dislike it when people say "omg you got a tattoo of your gamertag/username luls u nerd"
so sorry guys, i had the tattoo first. i just decided to use it as a name one day when i realized all my previous names seemed childish and ive outgrown them, i wanted something that sounded more mature/more respectable lol.

either way, the origin is the same. one of my fave bands of all time is called 'Just Surrender'.
but..
while that band is called -just- surrender. theres also that quote of 'never give up and -never- surrender'.

since the two contradict each other, i couldnt get a tattoo of -just-[surrender] or -never-[surrender]...

so to get the best of both worlds, i just got "Surrender" by itself and just let people think about it~ lol
 
so yah some guy at a party said this really stupid fucking joke... idk... it really wasnt funny. but now when i hear the joke im like HEY THATS MY STEAM NAME FUCK OFF GAY WAD

I think South Park was huge here...about 15-16 years ago. Just like the Simpsons, after about 8-10 years in, I didn't realize they were still making new ones.

I'll start...

The Dirty Dugger- Mine come to me from my frineds, post high school and pro soccer. I was 20 and thru all the parting and booze, I would hit on anything that moved. I had a pretty good success rate too. But it became a friendly name that i was THE Dirty Dugger, and i liked it. You only get one life and i enjoyed the company of women.
