Headset?

I use a quality desk mic and IEMs... The quality of sound going from senhisser 800s to the iem was breathtaking... Get a great desk mic and some x10 buds and you will be set... And you can take the awesome sound to go for your phone or ipod

I enjoyed large headset over the years, but I will have to agree with @A Stable Carbocation , these days my neck is hurting because of their weight. I use a wireless headset, been using them for 3-4 years now.
My next headset will be something lightweight.

Look at the Audio Technica AG-1 Closed or Open, I have those now, the lightest headset I ever wore, and they clamp to your head instead of rest on them, its awkward at first, but I've gotten to like them more than any other headset in regards to comfort.

The steel series are pretty good headsets I would try to stay away from turtle beach and razer

SteelSeries Siberia v1 or v2

I got both and love them and probably the best headset I used so far.
The V1 has a detachable mic and extension cord for the headset while the V2 has a built in mic. I sometimes take my V1 with me to listen to music on my phone.

Usually these headsets goes on sale. I bought my v1 for $70 and my v2 for $65 when they were on sale.

I use a surround sound headphone and separate mic.

Finding a quality headset with surround sound is difficult. The ones I used before are Razer Tiamat 7.1 and MEDUSA NX. These are true surround sound headsets. The two are comparable in comfort and quality. The Medusa doesn't seem to be available any longer. I wanted better sound as I watch movies on my system. There are few choices at the moment for good quality surround sound headphones as well. The ones I link work very well with movie and music playback.
