Your games will load faster on the SSD, I think 256GB would hold alot of games.
Raptors are old tech and sucking alot of power and noise. I would go with a single 3TB for porn storage.
 
If I were you fast I would take that money and put it toward a ridicules display as this will get you more than anything else in my opinion. I would buy a HD LED TV that has a high refresh rate... something like a 40+ inch one which will improve your ability to see people much better... dosent have to be a monitor if its just for games and you could always use a second smaller monitor for text and other shit. This is what I am wanting to do is just get a huge display like an LED TV or a DLP projection system. That and get a 120gb SSD to run games and put OS on a normal drive.
 
No doubt running all apps and games off the SSD would be nice but I have well over that in just game installs. For now, the SSD is just a OS and app drive, PS4, Lightroom and several other bandwidth type apps. Games for me would require at minimum, a 512 gig drive and that will get dealt with later when I upgrade the Raptors to two 512 gig SSD. The Raptors do eat some juice and are a bit noisy, but have far more transfer bandwidth and lower access times than any single drive out there besides SSD. In Raid 0 they work real well and will be fine for launching games.

I am looking to ugprade the monitor but have absolutely no use for anything over 27". I have a entertainment system with a large flat scree so my monitor needs are more in the WQHD retina display, trouble is there are some good ones and some bad ones, just trying to decide which I want to throw the money down on. Get this system built, an OS tossed on and the games and applications reinstalled before worrying about any other upgrades or changes. I am sure it is going to take a couple weeks to get everything back to where it is right now.

Welp, Newegg totally dropped the ball with my order and sat on it for two days before processing it. So I called and told them to stuff it and that it was not going to get signed for, good thing they were ok with that and would refund the total amount even the shipping.

So I went up to San Jose this morning and picked up, at the exact same cost, a couple of Samsung Pro 840 512 GB drives and some other stuff. After spending all night yesterday looking over Intel's development cycle I decided to hold off a motherboard and cpu upgrade until Intel releases Haswell and ver 2.0 of Ivy Bridge. Haswell looks very interesting with the expanded buses for non-linear prediction and several other adjustments that should stomp everything out there right now.

Before I go ahead and install these two SSD I had a couple questions with regards to in OS drive bonding (using the OS to show two drives as one). Will this cause any trouble with SSD? What other specific settings should I be conscious of and those that I should not enable or do, like trying to defrag an SSD? Just hate the idea of frying two drives worth a grand even if there is a 5 year warranty.

My current board is the X58 series Rampage Extreme with an i7 920. If you have any other insights I would love to hear them before tearing this system apart and installing these two drives and seeing how bad Windows 8 really is.
