Need help…Cost?

Ok guys I have a macbook pro at the moment, but I do want a PC now to play some games like Rome 2, BF4 etc etc and stuff without any lag whatsoever.

How would it cost? I have about 500 dollars at the moment, planning to add maybe another 200-300 more?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated as I know nothing when it comes to building stuff.

EVEN if you guys find deals online, like cragslist, ebay or whatever, as long as its good I will consider it as an option, but I want your view on this if its a good idea or not.

AGAIN IM not even sure if its possible to even have a decent gaming rig in this budget, if thats the case I'll save a little more.

I built a computer that is effectively 3-4 years old and it cost me somewhere around $400. To get the kind of power you'll need for BF4 I think you should expect to spend $800-1000...but there are others here who probably know better than me

Yea i thought so too after doing some research, I think i can spend around 800 later on this year and thats if i don't get a PS4 lol..
 
Don't waste money buying PS4 early, you're just subsidizing that cost for all the other whackos out there.
 
It also depends on how much time you want in between your upgrades, and how good you want the games to look.... I mean it's rough starting out brand new. Over the past 2 or so years I've completely replaced everything and have about $1200 worth of hardware (cost even more when I bought it - _ -), but that's over a period of time... unless you have the money on hand maybe you should start small. I know it's not an official computer forum, but the guys that run that section are very knowledgeable and have been helping people out for years.

I would go for an amd set up then if you are looking for a good, low cost setup.
1) you dont need beffy RAM. 1333 (667) is fast enough
2) refurbished hard drives are your friend and they are in-expensive.

I have a Corsair TX750 that I can sell to you for cheap which might help you save some money.

Hmm thanks for the advice, but I don't wanna stock up right now just exploring ideas. Thanks thought.

P.S I have no idea how to build a rig from scratch as well, hell don't even know all the components, a friend of mine is going to help me , but still need to figure out the budget :p

1200+?!…thats a lot, not sure I can shell that much out at the moment!

i'll help you build it if you want. microcenter in tustin has the best cpu/mobo deals around town. get parts off other members on the cheap to save $$$. you should be able to build a decent system for $800 if some parts are used. Snag D4's TX750, too.
