So I had steam guard and I haven’t signed on in a very long time. Out of nowhere I get a text saying my phone number from the account…without requesting any confirmations???

I opened a support ticket and they are asking me for a cd key. I do not have any keys written down! Anything I bought on steam was through their store, how the hell am I supposed to save the info?

This is beyond frustrating. Now they are asking for transactions prior to 2010…wtf? Even the IRS doesn’t ask for transactions over 15 years ago…

PayPal doesn’t have any data that far back.

I was able to get some info from 2010…from my old email but that’s about it. No keys.

That's kind of insane. Though I suspect that they are asking for invoices for email confirmation.

Do you have an idea of how your steam got hacked?

No idea. All I got is a text saying my phone number was removed from the account.

I also got an email with few codes. But nobody can access my iCloud email without two factor. My iCloud email is fine.

I feel like your icloud was the culprit. To begin with, a lot of people use icloud to spam forums. I have icloud banned on my boards because of the high number of icloud accounts being used to spam. Let me put it this way, some gmail accounts get hacked because the hacker has access to the cookies of your computer, which doesn't make sense at all. But it's what hackers use. I understand that the cookies have cached information of your account, but these companies shouldn't theoretically put your password inside cookies. Like, bro, that's fucking stupid.

So, never use icloud with stuff that is important to you. iphone is also not secure - not in the way Apple is marketing it as. It's a closed platform, yes, but these iclouds are telling me different.

I have a lot of ideas, but I'm just keeping it short.

I had access issues in 2010 and after going back and forth with them for a week being asked for purchase records in 2006, I sent them photo ID, which matched my billing records on the account so they reset my pw for me. I never send a digital copy of my ID for anything, but my steam account had sentimental value. :)
