Crossfire 7970 w/ ???

i would take one GTX970 over the 7970 Xfire anyday.
1- use less power
2- less heat output, i hate seating next to the Xfire on a 100 degree day
3- 4GB vram

What wouldn't you do? Crossfire? If so- Yeah, I'm probably not going to crossfire after all. Everything is telling me not to, but I still KINDA want to. I'm now leaning towards upgrading my rig before something like that :( Now just to OC my amd 8350, just to say I did something with it..

Heat output isn't too much of a problem in Washington! :cold: Of course, I'm not running Xfire at the moment though. But other than that, one GTX970 beats Xfire by your comparisons. But TWO GTX970's would be better :X3: rriiiggghhhtttt?!

I guess the main reason why I want to crossfire is just for the experience.. Meh.. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
 
Trust me, Xfire is not a real deal. People would take single card over it anyday.
Of course, 7970 Xfire will give you more performance but between GTX970, 980 and 290X vs them, people will take the single card. In this case, Gtx970 and 290X will be best bang for the buck when your new 850W PSU comes into play.

So, I've thought about it. And I'm not going to crossfire my current setup after all. Will be upgrading cpu, power supply and gpu to POSSIBLY xfire. Thanks again!!

I'm going to go with the gtx series, to save on the power consumption. Because lemme be honest, my intentions are to SLI or Crossfire :3 But if I were to go the radeon route, like col. gaspar said, I'd get the 390x.
