From the initial reports it seems like there is an issue between Verizon & Cogentco overloading their routes...hopefully Internap can do something about it soon...report sent.

ok, thanks. I know I was playing MM the other day and the 3 guys in the game with fios all had pings that flucated to almost the exact same value. We'd all be either 160, 140, or 37.

This looks like it's related to the Verizon-Cogent issue that the two have been fighting over for well over a year now. Verizon is letting their links to Cogent flat-top, causing problems for Verizon customers and Cogent customers.

Internap's automated system was choosing the Cogent path and we should be able to have them manually adjust that route next time this happens. I see that their automatic system already changed it earlier tonight, which I hope will stick:

Problem is, many of these providers go through "cheap" routing and they end up overloading the routes and causes loss of packets and high latencies...its annoying at times.
It just shows how fucked up the net is.

5-6 years ago you would rarely have routing issues, but these days providers became smarter and started overloading routes that benefits them but starts fucking things up for the end user.

Just like what they are doing with Netflix...

What they are doing with Netflix is criminal. I can't believe that shit like that doesn't get slapped down my some government agency because it is total bullshit the overreaching discretionary control that they have over your data.

Big corporation like cable companies control everything.
Its also criminal how much wireless companies charge for data on cell phones. Its also stupid how much control they have over the net, that means if you are using too much data they can throttle your speed!

Anyways back to topic @A Stable Carbocation let me know if you run into anymore problems.
